The Treatment of Gait Problems in Cerebral Palsy.
Gage J.
London: Mac Keith Press; 2004.

Abstract

Previous texts on the treatment of gait disorders in cerebral palsy have been based largely on tradition. This book takes a different approach. It begins with the way the brain controls locomotion and the type of brain pathology present in cerebral palsy. It goes on to examine the principles of normal and pathological gait, and the comprehensive evaluation of a child with cerebral palsy , including computerized gait analysis.Current nodalities of treatment are reviewed, and treatment of specific gait problems in cerebral palsy are discussed in detail. The book concludes with current methods of evaluating treatment outcomes, since only with comprehensive outcome evaluation will future treatments improve. The accompaning CD, with its short films, adds greatly to the reader's understanding of the issues involved.
